Ed Shapiro has been Chair of the firm's Litigation & Dispute Resolution practice group since 2007. Trained as a trial attorney and as a mediator, his practice focuses on the efficient prevention, management and resolution of disputes for businesses, organizations and individuals. Ed’s primary objective is to help clients identify their goals, and then to collaborate with them on business and personal solutions to meet those goals.
As an experienced litigator, Ed represents clients in state and federal court, before administrative agencies, and in mediation and arbitration. He has represented clients in disputes involving, among other areas, the Americans with Disabilities Act, breach of fiduciary duty, general employment matters, including contracts, discrimination claims, breach of contract, partnerships, fraud, consumer fraud, restrictive covenants (including non-competition and non-solicitation matters), unfair competition, trade secrets, professional licensing, business dissolution, shareholder disputes, probate and trusts, real estate, product liability defense, the Uniform Commercial Code, ERISA, the Telephone Consumer Protection Act, and the Fair and Accurate Credit Transactions Act. Ed has also represented physicians and physician practice groups before various administrative agencies, including the Illinois Department of Financial & Professional Regulation, as well as in contract, non-compete and hospital privilege matters.
