Kel Thomas is an associate and Business Law attorney with Foley & Lardner LLP.  Kel is based in the Boston office where he is a member of the Fund Formation and Investment Management team and the Transactions Practice Group. Kel provides counsel to private and public institutional investors and government agencies, including pension funds.

Kel also advises emerging and middle-market fund managers on the formation and operation of venture capital, hedge, and real estate funds to include advice on management company structuring, drafting limited partnership agreements and limited liability company agreements for investment vehicles, side letter negotiations, secondary sales, and Investment Advisers Act registration and compliance. In addition to the fund formation matters, Kel also has extensive experience in a wide range of private sector investments across many different asset classes including private placement offerings and commercial mortgage lending from an insurance lender perspective.

Prior to joining Foley, Kel served as a Senior Counsel on the Investment Law team for a large international insurance company where he represented institutional clients’ investments across many different asset classes.

Prior to law school, Captain Kelvin Thomas served as a logistics officer in the U.S. Army.  Primarily stationed at Ft. Bragg, NC and an extended deployment to Afghanistan.
