Mia Lombardi

Professional Biography

Mia Lombardi is special counsel and an environmental lawyer with Foley & Lardner LLP. She is a member of the firm’s Business Law Department and Environmental Practice.

Mia has extensive experience in a range of environmental matters with a focus on regulatory compliance, transactions, remediation and product stewardship. She has counseled on regulatory requirements and non-compliances under state and federal waste, wastewater, drinking water and air regulations as well as implementation of compliance assurance and assessment programs. She has supported numerous mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, real property transfers and facility shutdowns.

Mia has represented clients in RCRA, Superfund and state remediation matters and brownfields redevelopment. Mia also has extensive experience in the Toxic Substances Control Act and the Federal Insecticide, Fungicide, and Rodenticide Act regulations, including PMN submissions, CDR reporting and treated article exemptions. Some of her key strengths include critical thinking, strategy development and project management with a successful track record in providing business-focused and risk-based solutions.

Before joining Foley, Mia served as in-house EHS counsel for large global companies, supporting a range of chemical and manufacturing facilities, operations and businesses.

Representative Matters

  • Responsible for development and execution of the EHS due diligence strategy, data room and environmental liability transfer strategy for $13.2 billion sale of lead acid battery business
  • Provided day-to-day and strategic support for investigation and remediation of PFAS-contaminated sites, including drinking water sampling program, water and biosolids treatment systems, and governmental agency interactions and approvals
  • Negotiated TSCA audit agreement with U.S. EPA and executed audit program at 15 chemical and manufacturing facilities
  • Oversaw remediation activities, agency interactions, performance of third-party indemnity obligations and cost allocation for a portfolio of 25+ sites in North America, South America and Europe
