Professional Biography

Monica Perez Schroeck focuses her practice on environmental law, regularly advising both public and private entities on issues involving real estate and corporate transactions, as well as on environmental litigation matters.

A significant portion of Monica’s practice entails environmental and land use issues, including those associated with site remediation, environmental due diligence, solid waste disposal, clean air and water regulations, insurance coverage, and environmental health and safety (EHS) compliance. She has extensive experience counseling clients on matters involving federal and state environmental statutes, such as the New Jersey Spill Compensation and Control Act, the Industrial Site Recovery Act, the Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act of 1985, the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act, the Coastal Area Facility Review Act, and Environmental Justice compliance.

Additionally, Monica has worked on numerous Superfund litigation matters in various federal jurisdictions and regularly represents clients in administrative actions before state and federal agencies, including the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.

Monica is an active member of the New Jersey Bar Association and is currently serving as chair of the Environmental Law Section. She received her J.D. from the Seton Hall University School of Law and her M.B.A. from Seton Hall’s Stillman School of Business. Monica also earned her B.S. in engineering from Swarthmore College and worked in the power generation industry, which gives her a unique perspective into natural gas generation and power metering.
