Peter D. Robertson

Professional Biography

Peter Robertson brings his 40-plus years of experience in Washington DC to bear on behalf of clients in the environmental, energy, sustainability and other areas. He has worked in government, the non-profit sector, law firms and corporations, and uses the multifaceted experience to help clients attain their policy and business goals.

Peter is of counsel with the firm’s Public Policy Practice. During his more than 40 years of experience in Washington DC, he has served at high levels in government (both the federal Legislative and Executive branches), the non-profit sector and the private sector.

Most recently, Peter was senior vice president for Corporate Affairs at a mining company. Previously, he served as the senior vice president for Legislative and Regulatory Affairs at a trade association of independent natural gas producers.

Peter served during the Clinton Administration at the US Environmental Protection Agency, first as chief of staff to Administrator Carol Browner, and then as deputy administrator (the agency's number two position). In prior government service, he worked for seven years on Capitol Hill, including service as a professional staff member on the Committee on the Budget in the House of Representatives.

Peter has been a prolific speaker at conferences and other forums during his time in Washington DC. He has spoken at literally hundreds of conferences and other settings on environmental policy. He is the author of two chapters in environmental handbooks.
