Professional Biography

Robert B. Christie focuses his practice on commodities and securities litigation. He has represented clients in connection with enforcement actions and other regulatory matters before the Commodity Futures Trading Commission, Securities Exchange Commission, National Futures Association, the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, and securities and commodity exchanges. He also has broad experience defending clients in arbitration before private or member forums. These include the National Futures Association (NFA), Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA), American Arbitration Association (AAA), Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT) and Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME), Commodity Futures Trading Commission reparations proceedings, and state and federal courts.

Bob has also prosecuted and defended against a wide variety of employment matters. These matters involved alleged violation of state and federal age, sex, race, and pregnancy discrimination laws; federal Fair Labor Standards Act and state wage payment and collection acts; and employment agreements and breach of covenants not to compete.

In addition, Bob has defended clients in class actions involving billion dollar Ponzi schemes, consumer fraud schemes, and alleged violation of state or federal labor laws.

Prior to starting his legal career, Bob was a Vice President of Cantor Fitzgerald, a major broker-dealer and investment banking firm. From 1980-1994, he was a member of the Chicago Board of Trade where he traded for his own account and also advised institutional clients in hedging and risk management using options and futures contracts. In the mid-1970s, Bob was engaged in hedging and risk management for an agriculture business with operations in Wyoming and Texas, and offices in Wheatland, Wyoming and Chicago, Illinois.
