Susan Lovern is a Shareholder representing clients in the area of complex business litigation and appeals in state and federal courts and in arbitration proceedings. She has substantial experience assisting businesses, banks, hospitals and municipalities with serious problems ranging from contract disputes, business torts, non-compete agreements, unfair competition, dealership and trade secret issues, to environmental litigation, property tax disputes, and land use and zoning matters. Susan’s litigation practice includes all aspects of case management from pre-litigation dispute resolution to jury trials. In addition, she has significant appellate experience, including numerous published opinions and arguing cases before the Wisconsin Supreme Court and the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals.

She has significant appellate experience, including numerous published opinions, and has argued cases before the Wisconsin Supreme Court and the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals.
Susan has been named a Wisconsin Super Lawyer® in the area of Business Litigation annually since 2010 and has been repeatedly selected as one of Wisconsin’s Top 25 Women Lawyers (2012, 2014-2017). She is recognized in The Best Lawyers in America® in the fields of Commercial Litigation and Environmental Litigation and was selected by The Best Lawyers in America® as "Lawyer of the Year" in Milwaukee for Litigation-Environmental (2014). Susan is a Fellow in the Litigation Counsel of America, a trial lawyer honor society with invited membership of less than 1/2 of 1% of American lawyers. In 2010, she was recognized as a “Woman in the Law” by the Wisconsin Law Journal for her representation of a defendant manufacturer in a $1 billion environmental cleanup action. An active member of the bar, Susan serves on the Eastern District of Wisconsin Bar Association Board of Directors and co-chairs the Civil Committee. She recently completed her second term on the Board of Directors of the Milwaukee Bar Association (“MBA”) and currently sits on the Courts Committee. She is a past president of the Association for Women Lawyers, a 400-member specialty bar, and serves on the AWL Foundation Board. In 2008-09, she served on the State Bar of Wisconsin’s Strategic Planning Committee. Additional professional memberships include the American Bar Association (Litigation and Appellate Sections), the Thomas E. Fairchild American Inns of Court, and the American Health Lawyers Association.
