Timothy W. Drake

Timothy Drake represents municipal governments, transportation agencies, private sector companies, universities and nonprofit organizations on a range of legislative and regulatory matters related to transportation and infrastructure, economic development, energy and education. Timothy assists clients in the development and implementation of comprehensive strategic plans, identifies federal funding opportunities, and provides guidance on the potential impacts of major reauthorizations and other federal policies.

He also advises and supports clients during the rulemaking process and in their interactions with federal agencies. He has evaluated the potential effects of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s (NHTSA) recent Federal Automated Vehicles Policy (FAVP) on public and private sector clients, particularly with regard to voluntary compliance with the FAVP’s requirements and opportunities for automated vehicle development and deployment.

Timothy advises universities and companies on a variety of UAS integration issues, including FAA’s Section 333 exemption process, relevant regulations and guidance, and legislation.

During law school, Timothy was a senior articles editor on the American Criminal Law Review and a board member of the Georgetown chapter of the American Civil Liberties Union. He also worked extensively as a research assistant to a professor of Health Law and Economics, working closely on Affordable Care Act implementation, and received the ABA/BNA Award for Excellence in Health Care Law. He earned his bachelor’s degree in political science with a concentration in American politics.
