Wednesday, April 6, 2016

On February 25, 2016, the U.S. Department of Labor (“DOL”) published a proposed rule to implement President Obama’s September 7, 2015 Executive Order requiring federal contractors to provide paid sick leave to employees.

On March 13, 2015, the DOL extended the notice and comment period for the proposed rule to April 12, 2016. Today (April 6, 2016), the DOL extended the notice and comment period again.  Interested parties now have until April 26, 2016 to submit comments to the proposed rule.

Due to the impact that this proposed rule is expected to have on the federal contractor community, employers are encouraged to submit comments prior to the deadline. Comments may be submitted via email or mail at the following addresses, using Control Number 1235—AA13:

Email:  WHDPRAComments@dol.gov

Mail:  Robert Waterman, Compliance Specialist, Division of Regulations, Legislation, and Interpretation, Wage and Hour, U.S. Department of Labor, Room S–3502, 2
