Being a resident in the Middle East since 2011, Andrej Kormuth has been based in Dubai for five years and was previously in Doha for three years.Andrej also worked in South Africa (based in Johannesburg) for four years. Andrej has extensive experience guiding clients on the most innovative and significant Middle Eastern and African deals, including the latest wave of Middle Eastern power, water and waste water deals.
Andrej is internationally recognised for his market leading experience, including as a Next Generation Lawyer by The Legal 500 (2018) and a Rising Star in IFLR 1000 Financial & Corporate Guide (2018) traversing multiple sectors and jurisdictions. Aside from utility deals, Andrej has led clients on several key landmark mandates such as the upcoming dual listing of a regional power company, the FIFA 2022 World Cup in Qatar, several airport privatisation programmes, the Bahrain LNG import terminal, structuring of the West African Power Pool initiative, regulatory structuring for the Qatari and Saudi Arabian PPP programmes, the Sharjah Waste to Energy project (the first and only banked waste to energy deal in the Middle East), and Saudi Arabia's only polysilicon manufacturing plant to name a few. Andrej's deep and varied pool of deal experience means that he can navigate clients through complex cross-sector issues, including with respect to corporate project structuring, infrastructure M&As and IPOs, dispute mediation and resolution, regulatory structuring, and procurement tender programmes.
