Professional Biography

Benjamin (Ben) Ediger, PhD focuses his practice on intellectual property transactions and patent counseling in the life sciences space, along with patent litigation and patent prosecution across a range of diverse technologies.

Prior to joining the Firm, Ben served as a patent agent managing a substantive agricultural biotechnology docket that encompassed both domestic and foreign plant breeder’s rights and utility applications and domestic plant patent applications. Prior to that, Ben was an intern at the Wistar Institute’s Business Development Office, a role that saw him conduct numerous technology disclosure reviews and freedom-to-operate searches in the biomedical technology industry.

During law school, Ben was the Executive Submissions Editor for the Texas Intellectual Property Law Journal and was actively involved in pro bono matters, dedicating time to asylum and immigration issues.

Ben also has a significant research background, including projects exploring mammalian phylogenetics, the formation and function of multimeric protein complexes in yeast models, stem cell differentiation and de-differentiation in murine models and pancreatic β-cell insulin-producing function in murine and human islets.
