Michelle Mount represents private funds, registered funds, underwriters and companies in a variety of transactions in connection with their efforts to raise capital and navigate regulatory challenges.

Prior to joining Katten, Michelle was an associate in the funds and investment management practice of a major international law firm, where she focused on representing underwriters in closed-end funds (CEFs) and other public and private entities. Michelle has worked on initial public offerings (IPOs) in a variety of sectors including environmental, social and governance (ESG), digital technology and real estate.

Michelle completed two consecutive externships at the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) in the Enforcement Division and Office of Market Supervision where she gained a deep understanding of the legal theories and processes regulators apply in implementing the securities rules, particularly in the areas of insider trading and digital assets.

While in law school, Michelle was published five times on two journals and was the recipient of the SEC Alumni's Pollak Award for her paper on ethical issues in securities law. Prior to law school Michelle worked for two self-regulating organizations (SROs) which gave her a deep understanding of the financial markets and the practical implications of securities regulations and corporate governance choices.
