She has counselled a number of the world’s top pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and chemical companies regarding the protection and enforcement of their intellectual property rights. She co-chairs the Patent Group, overseeing the filing and prosecution of patents. Because of her extensive technical expertise and background, Rommy Morales is one of the foremost experts on the prosecution and enforcement of pharmaceutical patents in Mexico.
Rommy Morales has over 16 years of experience in intellectual property and has specialized in patent prosecution and litigation. She is known for accurately identifying the clients’ needs, developing, and implementing appropriate strategies for the protection of their industrial property rights.
She provides technical and legal advice to national and international clients in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and chemical industries regarding the preparation, filing, prosecution, granting and enforcement of patents, including patentability and validity opinions, and freedom to operate analysis.
At the same time, Rommy Morales supervises the team in charge of filing and prosecuting patent applications.
Due to her reputation as a biologist and her significant experience in this field, Rommy also leads the area responsible for the plant variety protection in Mexico.
She has participated in numerous Life Sciences-related legal proceedings, including litigation cases involving pharmaceutical products of great commercial interest.
