Sandi F. Dubin

Professional Biography

Sandi F. Dubin is a shareholder in the New York office and represents employers in all aspects of labor and employment law, with a particular focus on traditional labor law and matters involving the National Labor Relations Act. Sandi collaborates with clients to provide practical advice and counsel on labor and employee relations issues, as well as effective solutions to complex legal issues affecting the workplace.

As a member of the firm’s Traditional Labor Practice Group, Sandi represents employers in collective bargaining negotiations, arbitrations, and matters before the National Labor Relations Board. Sandi advises employers on all aspects of union and employee relations and issues under the National Labor Relations Act.

Sandi’s practice includes providing guidance on labor-management relations, hiring, discipline, and termination, grievances, performance management, workplace policies, leaves of absence, disability and reasonable accommodations, discrimination and harassment complaint investigations, reductions in force, wage and hour compliance, and workplace safety. In addition to Sandi’s practice as advisor and counselor, she also is experienced in litigation concerning employment discrimination, retaliation, harassment, and wage and hour class actions, as well as in the defense of employers in administrative charges and complaints before administrative agencies. Sandi has extensive experience working with institutions of higher education and non-profit organizations, and is intimately familiar with the complex issues unique to colleges and universities.

Prior to joining Ogletree Deakins, Sandi was in private practice for a decade and then served for more than a decade as in-house labor and employment counsel to New York University, where she handled novel, complex and anticipated labor and employment matters. In her role as Associate General Counsel and Director of Labor Relations, she led the university’s negotiation team both at the bargaining table and in the development of strategic proposals aimed at mutually satisfactory resolution with seven different bargaining units.  Sandi worked closely with university administration, human resources and management, providing advice on all aspects of domestic employment and traditional labor law, and represented the university in labor arbitrations, unfair labor practice matters, employment discrimination litigation and administrative agency charges.

Sandi received her J.D. from the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law, magna cum laude, where she was a member of the Moot Court Honor Society, received the Jacob Burns Medal and Best Advocacy Writing Award, and graduated Order of the Coif. She received her B.A. from the University of Pennsylvania, cum laude.

Sandi is a member of the New York and New Jersey bars.
