Christopher R. Williams

Professional Biography

Christopher Williams is an associate in the Labor and Employment Practice Group at Sheppard Mullin's Washington, D.C. office.

Chris handles litigation and counseling matters on behalf of management in a wide range of labor and employment matters. His practice focuses on employment litigation, including discrimination and retaliation claims, disability accommodation matter, wage and hour claims, and other disputes arising under applicable local, state, and federal statutes. Chris also has expertise in employee benefit litigation, having represented employers, plan sponsors, and fiduciaries in matters that arise under ERISA and the Multiemployer Pension Plan Amendments Act.

In addition to litigation, Chris regularly advises clients on the development and implementation of employment policies, handbooks and agreements, as well as conducting due diligence in corporate mergers and acquisitions and advising clients on compliance with the Family and Medical Leave Act and the Americans with Disabilities Act.

Chris also has experience with traditional labor issues. He has helped employers handle the negotiation and administration of collective bargaining agreements, disputes with multiemployer pension plans and unfair labor practice charges filed with the National Labor Relations Board.  

While in law school, Chris served as a judicial extern for the Honorable Robert E. Payne, U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia. Prior to attending law school, Chris worked in the human resources industry as an executive recruiter conducting national recruiting searches for executives in multiple industries.
