Professional Biography

Shruti Dhonde is a member in the International Dispute Resolution and Investigations Practice of the research and strategy driven international law firm, Nishith Desai Associates. AREAS OF PROVEN EXPERTISE

Shruti’s area of expertise is dispute resolution including domestic and international commercial arbitration, commercial litigation and mediation. Her experience covers consumer disputes, disputes arising out of commercial agreements such as outsourcing agreements in the transport industry, share subscription and shareholders agreement in the media industry, and carrying out Indian proceedings arising from an investor-state arbitration.

BUILDING BLOCKS

Shruti has been a member of the International Dispute Resolution and Investigations Practice of Nishith Desai Associates since 2023. She is a member of the Bar Council of Maharashtra & Goa. She is an alumna of Maharashtra National Law University Mumbai. Shruti has also ventured into fields such as intellectual property law and securities law by authoring articles published on renowned blogs such as ‘Balancing IPR and the Right to Health: An Abiding and Ad Rem Puzzle for a Welfare State’, published on ‘NLUJ Centre for Intellectual Property Studies Blog’ of the
Centre for Intellectual Property Studies, NLUJ and ‘Arguing in favour of Lack of Consent being Determinative: A Relook at the Prakash Gupta Case’, published on the Arbitration & Corporate Law Review, Blog. She has also contributed a chapter titled ‘Criminal Tribes to Habitual Offenders: A Change in Name, not in Spirit’ published by Thompson Reuters, in the book titled ‘Revisiting Reforms in the Criminal Justice System in India’.

OUT OF OFFICE

While not lawyering, Shruti enjoys reading, composing poetry and practicing kickboxing. She also engages in community service and has volunteered with Save the Children and one of their partner organizations in India – Hamara Foundation.
