Soumya is a member of the International Dispute Resolution & Investigations practice of the research and strategy driven international law firm, Nishith Desai Associates (“NDA”).

AREAS OF PROVEN EXPERTISE

Soumya’s areas of expertise include international law and international arbitration. She has handled a variety of
commercial domestic and international arbitrations seated in India (both ad-hoc and institutional). Her experience covers disputes in the finance, retail, transport and media and entertainment industries. In additional to her expertise in arbitration, Soumya advises multi-national clients across jurisdictions on investigations involving issues such as internal fraud, anti-corruption and anti-bribery. She has conducted a number of investigations including
internal investigations as well as joint investigations with international law firms and forensic teams.

BUILDING BLOCKS

Soumya has been an integral part of NDA for the last year. Prior to that, she worked with another leading law firm of India, Naik Naik & Co., in their Dispute Resolution Team. Soumya is an alumna of the prestigious Government Law College, Mumbai and Georgetown University, Washington D.C. She also completed a certificate course from the London School of Economics in International Arbitration, in 2019. Soumya is a member of the Bar Council of Delhi (2020).

OUT OF OFFICE

Soumya has been published in a multitude of prestigious publications in India. While not lawyering, she enjoys travelling the world, exploring new cuisines, meeting new people and experiencing new cultures. She is also a trained Bharatnatyam Dancer and enjoys practicing the art form in her free time.
