DBO Warns That It Will Be Monitoring Face Covering Compliance

"How many then should cover that stand bare!"

California's Department of Business Oversight announced that it "will be monitoring compliance with the face-covering guidance, which will remain in effect until further notice."  The DBO's announcement does not threaten any specific sanctions for violations of the guidance nor does it claim any authority to do so.  Whether the DBO can or will take enforcement action depends, of course, on the particular statutes governing its licensing authority.

Governor Appoints New General Counsel

The Governor recently announced the appointment of Bret H. Ladine as the DBO's new General Counsel.  He had been serving as acting General Counsel since last year.  Mr. Ladine Ladine was previously a senior associate at Hogan Lovells US LLP and an associate at Wilson, Sonsini, Goodrich and Rosati PC.  He is a graduate of the University of Virginia School of Law.
