iThe Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has announced that it will soon extend for 60 days the comment period on its proposed rules for (1) Foreign Supplier Verification Programs for Importers of Food for Humans and Animals and (2) Accreditation of Third-Party Auditors/Certification Bodies to Conduct Food Safety Audits and to Issue Certifications.
The current comment period for both proposed rules is scheduled to end November 26, 2013. The extension will mean the comment period will now end on or about January 24, 2014. A formal Federal Register Notice is expected shortly
