G80-A – Class II General Permit for Natural Gas Activities
Friday, January 23, 2015

On January 21, 2015 the WVDEP Division of Air Quality announced a rollout meeting for February 5, 2015 to release the draft new air quality general permit for natural gas activities. The new general permit (G80-A) will cover prevention and control of air pollution in regard to natural gas production, compressor and/or dehydration facilities.

G80-A will replace G30-D (Natural Gas Compressor Station), G35-A (Natural Gas Compressor Station with glycol dehydration units) and G70-A (Natural Gas Production Facility). G30-D, G35-A and G70-A will continue to exist but no new registrations, modifications or administrative updates will be allowed. All future registrations, modifications or administrative updates will need to utilize the new G80-A.

The meeting is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the DEP’s headquarters in Charleston. The morning session (9 a.m. until noon) will consist of a general overview and would likely be of interest to a broader audience. The afternoon session (1 p.m. until 4 p.m.) will focus on more technical information and would provided information to those who would complete or review application registrations under the new general permit.

Limited live streaming of the meeting will be available. To attend the meeting or live-stream, you must registered by emailing Jennifer.L.Rice@wv.gov with “G80-A Rollout Meeting” in the subject line and your name, organization, telephone number and whether you will attend in person or live-stream.   Registration for the meeting must be submitted by February 2.

The new draft permit and associated application forms and other documents will be made available on the DAQ website, www.dep.wv.gov/daq, following the February 5 meeting.
