Amy R. Michelau is an associate in the Chicago office of Barnes & Thornburg. As a member of the firm’s Litigation Department, Ms. Michelau concentrates her practice on drug and medical device litigation and commercial litigation.

Ms. Michelau served as a summer law clerk in the Chicago office. Prior to joining Barnes & Thornburg full time in 2018, she was an associate at a boutique litigation firm in Chicago specializing in medical malpractice defense. In addition, she gained valuable experience during internships at the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago’s office of the general counsel and at a disability rights and services organization located in Chicago.

Ms. Michelau earned her J.D., cum laude, from Loyola University Chicago School of Law in 2016. While in law school, Ms. Michelau was the technical productions editor of the Annals of Health Law journal and executive director of student outreach and marketing of the Health Law Society. She is a member of the Illinois State Bar Association and Chicago Bar Association.

Ms. Michelau earned a B.S. in kinesiology from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2012.

Ms. Michelau is admitted to practice in the state of Illinois.
