Professional Biography

Jared Rifis is a senior public affairs advisor in the Washington, D.C. office of Foley & Lardner LLP. He represents clients and their legislative priorities before Congress and the Administration. Jared supports the firm’s Government Solutions Practice with research, analysis, and advocacy that advance each client’s public policy goals.

Prior to joining Foley, Jared served in various roles in Congress, most recently serving as a judiciary and commerce advisor to Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid. He was an effective advisor with a broad portfolio, including technology, telecommunications, gun safety, consumer protection, gaming, patents, and other issues.

During law school, Jared worked for Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi, now-Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer’s Judiciary Committee, and the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, where he supported policy advisors on a wide range of issues from tax to energy. He researched immigration and gun safety policy as a legal intern for Third Way, a centrist think tank. Additionally, he began his career advocating for campaign reform with an organization now known as Issue One.

Education

Jared earned his law degree from Georgetown University Law Center (J.D., 2014) where he received the Law Dean Scholar’s Award and the “Best Exam” award in Lawmaking. He also received “Exceptional” honors for completing over 175 hours of pro bono service. He earned his undergraduate degree in political science and Spanish from Butler University. (B.A., cum laude, 2010) where he received the Outstanding Senior Political Science Award for graduating with the top scholastic record.
