Katie Kelly

Professional Biography

Katie is a member of Foley & Lardner's Government & Public Policy Practice as a public affairs advisor, based in the firm's Tallahassee office. As the firm grows its Government Solutions Practice, Katie's extensive government experience and strong executive and legislative relationships strengthen the firm’s ability to deliver the best results for clients and ensure their continued success.

Katie most recently served as the Legislative and Governmental Affairs Chief for the Suwannee River Water Management District where she was responsible for directing the Office of Legislative and Governmental Affairs. In this capacity, Katie served as the liaison to federal and state officials, community leaders, and various stakeholder entities to effectively and efficiently advocate the District’s legislative priorities.

Over the past decade, Katie's positions have included Deputy Chief of Staff, as well as, Deputy Director of Legislative Affairs at the Florida Department of Environmental Protection, Intergovernmental Coordinator at the Northwest Florida Water Management District, Government and Community Affairs Director at the Southwest Florida Water Management District, Workforce Development Director for FloridaWest Economic Development Alliance and Director of Infrastructure and Governance for the Florida Chamber of Commerce.

Over her nearly 20 years in Florida politics, Katie has been engaged in 19 regular and 20 special sessions of the Florida Legislature. Katie has advised members of the House and Senate on policy issues related to economic development, electric generation and transmission, environmental regulation, property insurance, healthcare, technology and manufacturing.
