Jack West is a public affairs advisor in the Business Law Department with Foley & Lardner LLP. Jack is based in the Washington DC office. Prior to joining Foley, Jack worked at the Congressional App Challenge serving as the organization’s congressional lead. During his time with the Congressional App Challenge, Jack helped to build a bipartisan coalition of 339 congressional offices participating in the competition and raising awareness around the issue of a lack of youth participation in STEM. Jack worked with Members of Congress in leadership and across the aisle to further efforts of increasing student participation and diversity in STEM and computer science. During his time at the Congressional App Challenge, Jack wrote extensively about diversity within STEM, bipartisan approaches towards STEM education, and nonprofit efforts towards increasing student participation in STEM.
Jack has multiple years working within public affairs. Jack served as a Field Organizer for the Biden for President Campaign in Minnesota, leading a team of volunteer leaders and spearheading training sessions on campaign talking points and recruitment tactics. Jack has also served as a Legislative Intern in the office of Senator Richard Blumenthal, focusing on issues related to police reform, gun safety, and response to COVID-19.
